COSRX

PURE FIT CICA-7

SEVEN ITEMS IN TOTAL

The brand new RX Grade Cica Pure Fit series is the upgraded version of the famous Centella line. Whilst the Centella line contains only 1-2 kinds of Centella and has only 1 key benefit (calming), the new Pure Fit Cica-7 line consists 7 types of Centella extract with 3 key benefits (Recovering, Calming, Strengthening).

The Pure Fit Cica-7 line uses the skin calming solution called the Pure Fit Cica-7 Complex that is formulated with 820% more than the pre-existing Centella line. Its main feature is to restore the natural power of the skin with the help of cica extract and pycnogenol (Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract) that protect the skin from external stressors.

CICA-7 Complex is infused with

  • Centella Asiatica Extract,
  • Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract,
  • Centella Asiatica Root Extract,
  • Asiaticoside,
  • Asiatic Acid,
  • Madecassic Acid, and
  • Madecassoside

This series has seven new products as well: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Cream, Powder, Pads, and Masks.

Are these your true fit?

When life becomes more stressful and air pollution in the city, it is easy for our skin to stress out and create new skin problems. For me, it is the work stress and city air that create eczema problems and the clogging of pores.

Skin problems can also be caused by the usage of wrong skin care products which worsen our skin condition. Generally, I would avoid using local drugstore (pharmacy) skincare that is at a very affordable price tag because they contain more chemicals than they should. I also find that most drugstore skincare is extremely drying to the skin which leaves more problem to the skin barrier than it should.

Using the following checklist, you can find out if it is time for you to change your skincare products and/or routine:

For me, I checked yes for every item, especially when my eczema is at its worse. I had dark-red areas all over my body that flakes every second and hurts like millions of bees /ants stinging on my face. If I had used the wrong products, my skin instantly stings again and would starts to get multiple rashes that takes weeks to cool down.

My main solution is always protecting the skin barrier. It is not the absolute solution but it drastically lowers all of the chances of getting irritated and damaged skin. I had discovered this when I focused on treating the outer skin barrier during my worst condition. Safely using chemical exfoliator helps to remove dead skin effectively but our skin needs the help of products that soothes, recover and strengthen the skin barrier before our skin can effectively repair itself.

Centella extracts are a great option to repair skin barrier as they do calm, recover and strengthen the skin barrier. The Pure Fit Cica line is a great option to consider, especially when they have highly concentrated CICA-7 Complex. For a normal skincare routine, there are 4-5 items to use.

There are three ways you can use the items:

Recommended Sets/Steps

Essential : Cleanser > Toner > Serum > Cream
Complete : Essential set with Cica Powder mixed with toner or serum

Products & Review

Pure Fit Cica Cleanser

Label & Packaging

The outer packaging of this product consists of a paper box and an instruction slip in multiple languages to cater to global users.

The product itself is a regular cleanser tube in plastic and simple design on the exterior with key ingredients printed on the front. There is an aluminium sticker by the tube opening for safety reasons.

Smell, Lather & Texture

When I remove the seal from the tube, the eucalyptus smell was overwhelming. I was worried that it was going to be very minty but when I apply it onto my skin, it was rather subtle.

The cleanser is a cream foam cleanser that has a gentle lather and does not feel drying at all. The level of bubbling depends on the amount of water used. When I add my regular water level onto the cleanser, it lathers rather thinly. However, if I add more water to my hands, it bubbles up more. For me, the increase of bubble does not increase the level of dryness.

Pure Fit Cica Toner

Label & Packaging

The outer packaging is a box. That’s it HAHHA

The bottle itself is made of plastic with a plastic plug to seal the opening of the product. The instruction notes are hidden behind the first layer of the sticker. There is an arrow which indicates where to remove the sticker. The bottle is easy to squeeze but you probably don’t need to since shaking it a few times works too.

Smell, Application & Texture

This toner has almost no smell to it. It is as watery as pure water.

After patting it onto the skin, it gets absorbed pretty quickly. This toner does not leave a sticky residue after use. Once it is absorbed into the skin, it felt like there’s nothing on it but the skin feels so supple and protected.

Pure Fit Cica Serum

Label & Packaging

Similar to the toner, it has a box as an outer packaging but the instruction is within the sticker on the bottle. The instruction comes in multiple languages to cater to international users.

The bottle is made of glass with a plastic cap and a delicate glass tube. It is easy to use the applicator and it’s easy to squeeze-in and squeeze-out. It’s not hard to control the amount as well.

Smell, Application & Texture

This serum has almost no smell at all but it has more smell than the toner. It smells very much towards the Centella scent. It as a very light texture, almost watery but perhaps similar to saliva *chuckles*

It is very easy to spread across the skin and it doesn’t take too long to get absorbed. I like to pair the Cica Powder with the serum because the thicker texture is easier for me to mix with. The powder melts well with the serum too.

Pure Fit Cica Cream

Label & Packaging

The whole packaging is similar to the cream cleanser, whereby there is a box for the product with a regular cleanser-tube shaped packaging.

It is very easy to get the product out and while the packaging is smaller than a regular tub of moisturizer, it’s actually justified. You do not need a lot of products on your skin. Just a pea-size would do for the whole face.

Smell, Application & Texture

This product has no smell just like the rest of the products. It is not as thick as I thought but it is not light as well. The texture of this cream is at the middle-ground between thick and thin and I have no issues applying this to my face.

The amount to apply to the face should be as little as possible but not too little. A pea-sized amount is great for my entire face without looking shiny-greasy the next morning. The greasiness (after 12 hrs) is acceptable and clean, I’m alright with it but I prefer lesser grease on my skin.

Pure Fit Cica Powder

Label & Packaging

The packaging is similar to the toner whereby there is a box with the instruction note stuck to the product itself. The packaging of the bottle is made of plastic with a plastic plug sealing the opening of the product.

It is very small but the hole of the opening is too big for my preference. To me, the size of the hole would easily spill the product all over the place (which it did; exhibited below at the hand gallery).

Smell, Application & Texture

It is a light and easily-melted powder which has no smell to it. It is easy to use but it can be a little difficult to control the amount of product coming out of the opening.

When the powder came out too much, it still can be applied evenly to the skin with a little powdery feeling on it. I personally do not recommend using too much.

Additional Skin Loving Goods

Pure Fit Cica Calming True Sheet Mask

Smell, Application & Texture

It smells a bit like herbs and mint but I can’t really describe it. It is almost like the yellow disinfecting solution but also not really. The liquid has a similar texture to the serum and the sheet is nicely thin. It grasps onto the skin just nicely. The size of the mask is also well-fitting to my face.

Pure Fit Cica Pad

Label & Packaging

The plastic tub is packaged within a paper box. The opening is sealed with a layer of plastic to maintain its condition. The tub is very big and it seems like many of COSRX’s products have already started to redesign into a similar pattern. It is simple, clean and informative at the same time.

Smell, Application & Texture

Just as other CICA products in this line, this product does not have any smell. The texture is somewhat similar to the CICA serum but lighter and more watery.

The pad is very thin and it fits nicely on the skin. The amount of liquid on the pad is truly enough for 3-5 mins. It gets absorbed quickly into the skin as well. The pad’s second function can be a normal cotton pad for regular toner application.

Verdict

I have been using these products for about 2 weeks as of now and I had also stopped all my other skincare products in order to see clearer results from these products.

Generally speaking, these products have not caused any problems for me. There was a point that I suddenly had a few popping acne but that was most likely due to work stress. Once I’ve popped those acnes, my skin was recovering rather quickly.

Cleanser: The cleanser was a really gentle cleanser in terms of the foam and the cleaning power. This is probably the first foam cleanser that I have a little difficulty controlling the bubbleness but it is not a problem at all. The minty smell will increase when you use more cleanser. If you use a regular amount, it would be subtle.

Toner: The toner was surprisingly quick at getting absorbed into the skin. However, this is the only reason I do not prefer to mix the CICA powder with. After applying to the skin, it leaves no residue and the skin feels supple and nourished.

Serum: Of all the products, I do love the serum more. It feels more concentrated with all the benefits from the seven types of CICA extracts. With the toner, it works very well as a power duo to penetrate into the skin and help to recover it.

Cream: For the cream moisturizer, it works as a protective and nourishing barrier to my skin. It is not very thick but if you use too much before you go to sleep, your skin might turn up to be very greasy on the very next day. A little goes a long way, I normally use a pea-sized amount for my entire face and neck. It creates a light sheen on the face but it looks cleaner than I expected.

Powder: I do not use much of the powder as I feel like the CICA extract might be overwhelming my skin. It does not create any problems for my skin. I think it would be more useful to add to my other non-CICA skincare product to boost the effects.

Pads: I like that these pads act as both a quick mask and a toner-exfoliator. It works well with soothing troubled areas whenever I need and does not need me to use a whole face mask for a longer time period. I even used it on triggered areas on my body and the pads had quickly calmed down the itchiness and irritation.

Mask: The mask has a nice, refreshing feeling to it. It is a little minty but it does not irritate the skin. However, do avoid getting the mask juice into your eyes as it does irritate the eyes a little bit. The mask fits my face very well and it grasps nicely on it. There are some residues on the skin but it feels light and alright.

These products helped me to create glowing skin that shines from within to out. The outer barrier can recover rather quickly and the acne scars are healing faster as well. I truly believe that it had helped my skin ever so humbly; quietly but effectively.

The price tag is a bit above average and the product sizes may look a little smaller than regular products. However, I would still recommend people to purchase it and try. Do use the sample packs beforehand because a small portion of people’s skin cannot accept CICA in certain ways.

Overall, I had a really good experience with all of the products and I would recommend them to you 🙂
